The sadness of 9/11 persists. Today morning watching the names being called on television, I remembered the sheer helplessness of that day, the surreal quality of the world. Today too I go to New Jersey for a memorial for the beloved son of dear friends whose life changed forever on this day. I share with you an earlier piece about 9/11 and how we must never forget.

Watching the non-stop coverage on television you realize that a generation has grown up in that period. Little kids of six or seven who lost a father or a mother are now teenagers. It is painful to watch them talk of their loss, of a parent they can hardly recall, yet miss so much and will probably miss for the rest of their lives.

Thanks, Curry Bear. Each of these pictures tell a story with no need for elaboration or captions.I like the fact that they are taken by regular people who happened to be there at the moment, and were turned into witnesses, chroniclers.
As for losing a parent, it’s hard at any age but this has to be devastating.
I love the pictures of this post. I can’t imagine what it must be like to lose a father or mother as a child on that day 10 years ago.
