Power Talk: Arundhati Bhattacharya, Chairman of SBI
India’s Progress in A Changing World
Ah – technology! It sure gives you options. When the powerful State Bank of India Chairman, Arundhati Bhattacharya, came to New York people heard her ground-breaking ideas and thoughts in different ways. Some came to the Indian Consulate and heard her speak in the beautiful ballroom of the townhouse. This event was hosted by the Consul General of India Ambassador Riva Ganguly Das with the State Bank of India in collaboration with TiE. This was followed by a Q and A and a desi dinner.
Power Players
There was an amazing moment at this packed event when the main players of the evening came on stage – it was a gathering of power women. Along with Arundhati Bhattacharya, you had the Consul General of India, Riva Ganguly Das, the USA Country Head of State Bank of India Padmaja Chunduru and Roopa Unnikrishnan, the president of NY TiE. It was quite a moment to relish and enjoy. After all, State Bank of India is India’s largest bank and has over $429 billion in assets.Forbes named Arundhati Bhattacharya as the 25th Most Powerful Powerful Woman in the world in its 2016 rankings, and when she talks, everyone listens. In a Q and A with Sree Sreenivasan, former chief digital officer of Columbia University and the Met and a noted social media and tech evangelist, Bhattacharya took on diverse questions about business, finance, world affairs and diplomacy as well as Indian current affairs like a pro, giving lightning quick, thoughtful answers.
Interestingly enough, a day earlier Bhattacharya had done a live Facebook chat with Sreenivasan in Central Park and several people were privy to that. That chat was seen also in the homes of thousands and thousands worldwide caught it live from work and play. And now you have the opportunity to see both this live FB chat as well as photos of the more formal New India House reception right here on Lassi with Lavina. Walk with the Chairman even as you sit at your desk and sip your tea.
The wonderful world of technology! Enjoy both the live FB chat and the photos from the evening event.
