Each spring, a gala serves as the opening of the annual blockbuster show at the Metropolitan Museum’s Costume Institute. Hundreds of celebrities arrive in a frantic seasonal migration for that party.

This year, that exhibition is “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination” — and the choice of a religious theme gave a number of gala attendees a hot chance to tee off to the line of reporters on the event’s packed red carpet on Monday night.

This year we had dual representation with both Priyanka Chopra and the gorgeous Deepika Padukone! The Indian Express listed them both in their best and worst dressed list: “The Padmaavat actor looked delectably sinful in a gorgeous Prabal Gurung gown. The silk-crepe gown with a shoulder bloom accentuated her svelte figure and also witnessed the actor reprising the thigh-high slit which she has owned on red carpets in the past. Pulling her hair back, she accessorised her look with red stilettos, stunning diamond jewellery and a bright red pout.” So wrote IE and showed this gorgeous image.

Keeping the theme in mind, the Quantico actor incorporated just the right amount of theatrics in her ensemble. She picked a deep burgundy strapless velvet gownf rom Ralph Lauren with an intricately beaded and jewelled hood handrafted with Swarovski crystals.
