A Mughal Soiree in the Walled Garden
[dropcap]D[/dropcap]id you know that there’s a beautiful Indo-Persian Garden flourishing right in New York?
This year art and music lovers are invited to The Untermyer Gardens Conservancy in Yonkers for its annual Sunset Soirée on Sunday, June 4, f rom 5.30 to 9 pm. The theme is Gala in a Mughal Garden and it celebrates the Indian connection. The Walled Garden is based on the Taj Mahal in configuration and a truly lavish Mughal evening is planned with Indian food, fine wines and a gathering of society to enjoy this elegant one-of-a-kind mehfil.
[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he gala, which raises funds and support for these iconic gardens, honors honoree Gurvinder Singh, CEO and co-founder of Indus Valley Partners. The inaugural Minnie Untermyer Award, which recognizes excellence in the arts, is being presented to Aroon Shivdasani, who is often called the arts czarina of New York, having started many Indians on the path to the arts and as the founder and former director of Indo-American Arts Council, started that noted organization from scratch.
