October 2 is Gandhiji’s birth anniversary – a day for reflection and rejuvenation, but of course the world keeps spinning crazily with so many different things happening. Over the years, though, a remarkable, subtle change has occurred – Gandhiji, with the passage of time, has become modern and totally relevant to our times. I think for the new generation he’s becoming cool, someone they can really look up to. No less an arbitrator of cool than Google had a tribute to Gandhiji today and millions and millions of Googlers saw that iconic, bespectacled face entwined with the Google name.
Earlier this year Gandhiji was the subject of a Philip Glass opera at the Metropolitan Opera House and just last month Aicon Gallery introduced some very provocative sculptures which had the Father of the Nation with headphones, relaxing on a sofa and even working at a laptop computer! The strangest thing is Gandhiji seems to fit in perfectly in all these very mod surroundings. He was after all a man ahead of his time, with innovative, startling ideas that have influenced generations right up to Barack Obama.
Gandhiji loved to write and his profound, thought-provoking statements would have been speeding all over the Internet. In short, if he was here today, he would have made the perfect blogger.

An Apostle of Peace
Gandhi was a visionary ,
Who was a true missionary,
He traveled far and wide,
His message says do not hide,
His sole purpose in life,
Was to unite and end strife,
You have left a great legacy,
Which can build a mega city,
An apostle of peace is our Mahatma,
Who is the epitome of Dharma.
